Unofficial IMEX Networking App Sparks Confusion

Although developers may have had good intentions, the initiative was misguided

The Stand-Up October 8, 2024 Edited by Miguel Neves View in browser Hi there,   As IMEX America 2024 attendees descended on Las Vegas, many stumbled upon not one but two IMEX apps in the Apple iOS store.   While one was the official IMEX app, the other, "IMEX USA 2024 Networking," caused a bit of a commotion.   Initially labeled a "scam," this unofficial networking app, created by event tech firm Sarcon, sparked confusion, but both IMEX and Sarcon have clarified that it wasn't malicious, just misguided.   Sarcon's goal? To fill a networking gap for non-buyer attendees who don't have access to the official app's networking features.   The problem? Two lookalike apps with similar branding left users scratching their heads.   Though the app has since been pulled, it raised several questions.   What's your take?
